Pete

The systems guy. Convinced most of life’s messes are secretly process problems — and that a good drink helps you see the process.

The story

Fifteen years of fine print. One good pour.

Pete’s day job is procurement — the guy companies send in when the contracts get long and the numbers get fuzzy. Salt, packaging, spare parts and consumables, components, capital equipment, audio-visual tech, pharmaceutical drugs — fifteen years of the unglamorous stuff that quietly keeps companies running. He reads the fine print so you don’t have to. Honestly? He kind of likes it.

It didn’t start that way. First job out of school: a small iron foundry, youngest guy in the building by twenty years, the only one who could talk to a computer — and absolutely certain of nothing. He’s been turning messes into systems ever since. It’s why he shows up to DadTails with a framework, a spreadsheet, and a strong opinion about doing things on purpose. And why Ryan’s job is talking him out of all three.

But here’s the honest part: Pete didn’t start this show because he had it figured out. He started it because “someday” was beginning to sound like fear wearing a nicer coat — and because the questions he actually loses sleep over (Am I building the right things? What are my kids catching me doing?) don’t fit in a spreadsheet. If Ryan is the heart of the show, Pete is the spine: the plan, the follow-through, and the question under the question.
